The Fit

The fit of the Keen Targhee II Mid Hiking Boots is exceptional.

I find that the spacious toe box allows my toes to spread out comfortably while walking, which helps reduce the pressure on my plantar fascia.

The snug heel cup also provides excellent heel support, preventing my feet from slipping and sliding inside the boots. 🥾

Speaking of support, I believe a big reason why this shoe is so comfortable is that it has mid-height cuffs, which really help with ankle support.

Flexibility

The flexibility of the Keen Targhee II Mid Hiking Boots is another factor that makes them great for us hikers with plantar fasciitis.

They offer a perfect balance between support and flexibility, allowing my feet to move naturally while still providing stability on the trails.

I actually had them on in the Belgium Ardennes where the terrain is extremely rocky and this is where they really shined ✨

Hiking boots

I love these boots! They were comfy from day one. Especially with the Rei socks. I have bunions on my feet and they are wide enough to accommodate them!!! I highly recommend these boots!

Breathability

The Keen Targhee II Mid Hiking Boots are quite breathable, thanks to the combination of leather and mesh on the upper part of the boots.

During my hikes, I’ve noticed that my feet stay cool and dry, even on hot summer days or in humid conditions.

This breathability also helps to prevent blisters and other discomforts during long hikes.

Quality

The quality of the Keen Targhee II is what really makes them the best hiking boots for plantar fasciitis.

They feature durable, waterproof materials like membrane, leather, and nylon that have held up well during my adventures.

And like I mentioned rubber outsoles provide excellent traction on rocky surfaces, giving me the confidence to bust any trail.

When I did some digging online, I did notice that some people are complaining about the quality of the boots.

I have had mine for over a year now and have walked more than 120 miles with them and don’t see any signs of wear and tear yet.

I guess the way some folks treat their boots plays a big part in this.

The Merrell Bravada 2 are great for their comfort and flexibility, which make them a great option for hikers with plantar fasciitis, especially those who have wide feet. 🦶

They’ve allowed me to hike longer distances without the discomfort I used to experience.

On the flip side, they are low-cut hiking boots, so they offer less protection and ankle support than mid-height hiking boots.

Also, keep in mind that they are designed for women’s feet. I was able to put them on my feet because, lucky for me, my feet aren’t that big.

The Fit

When I first tried the Timberland White Ledge, I immediately noticed that it was very comfortable and didn’t cause any heel pain. ✅

These hiking boots for plantar fasciitis feature a padded collar and tongue, which provide additional cushioning and support around the ankle. They are specially designed for us hikers with jogger heels.

The removable EVA footbed offers excellent arch support and helped me reduce foot fatigue on longer hikes.

I do recommend buying a quality removable insole if you are planning on going for a long hike to get the most out of these trail shoes.

Flexibility

While the Timberland White Ledge is more structured compared to other hiking shoes, it still offers a decent amount of flexibility.

These traditional hiking boots have a flexible forefoot, allowing for a natural stride on the trail.

The boots’ flexibility is also what helps to minimize discomfort associated with plantar fasciitis

Passed the Treadmill Test!

I put the treadmill on a steep incline, and it’s been an invaluable indicator as to whether a boot or shoe will work out on the trail. This was the only boot that passed the treadmill test.

The Fit

I find the fit of Hoka Trail Running Shoes to be like a hug for your feet, especially if you’re dealing with plantar fasciitis, heel pain, or flat feet.

These shoes offer ample cushioning and a roomy toe box, allowing your toes to wiggle freely.

The heel and good arch support work together like a dynamic duo, reducing stress on the plantar fascia and alleviating discomfort.

Flexibility

Hoka Trail Running Shoes are so flexible, they could join a circus! 🎪

Jokes aside, their lightweight design and responsive midsole make for impressive flexibility, allowing for a more natural stride.

This helps reduce strain on the plantar fascia, making them a great option for those with plantar fasciitis or flat feet.

On the flip side, the superior flexibility does take away some support around the ankles. But if you ask me, it isn’t that significant.

My feet finally reached Nirvana!

I’ll start this off with a BIG WOW!!! I don’t know why I waited so long to get a pair of these Bonds. I use these shoes for work. I walk all day in the warehouse, and these shoes have supported my feet, and I have not felt pain or soreness at the end of the day.

Hoka Trail Running Shoes feature a breathable mesh upper that keeps your feet cool and dry, even on those hot and sweaty hikes.

Quality

Hoka Trail Running Shoes are crafted with synthetic materials with attention to detail. Though synthetic materials aren’t, in my opinion, as good as natural ones, they can still withstand the test of time (and trials!).

You can count on these best hiking shoes to be your buddies for many future hikes.

I especially think that heavy people will benefit most from this product due to the balance between extra cushioning, and flexibility.

Keep in mind that if you are planning to go on extremely long hikes during the fall or winter, you might want to consider something less flexible.

  • Great flexibility for a natural stride
  • Breathable mesh upper
  • Durable and high-quality construction
  • Customer reviews are very positive

Cons

The Fit

In my book, the HI-TEC Altitude fits like a dream, especially for long-distance walking.

The shoe hugs your foot comfortably, and the spacious toe box is a lifesaver for anyone who’s ever experienced that stabbing pain from squished toes.

Flexibility

Now, let’s talk about flexibility.

The HI-TEC Altitude might not win the flexibility Olympics against some other hiking boots, but it provides just enough flex for a comfortable stride without sacrificing stability, which is key when tackling muddy trails.

SUPER comfy and nice-looking boots!

These are great boots. They are super comfy right out of the box and fit perfectly. I wear a 12 extra wide in tennis shoes and the fit of these was spot on.
Jimbo

Breathability

For a waterproof boot, the HI-TEC Altitude is surprisingly breathable.

It’s like it has its own little air conditioning system, keeping your feet dry and comfortable even during those sweaty summer hikes.

Quality

The quality of the HI-TEC Altitude is impressive.

With a tough-as-nails leather upper and a durable sole, these boots will hang in there with you through thick and thin, proving that they’re not just another pretty face in the walking boot crowd.

In fact, they have patented “I-shield” technology that is dirt and water-resistant. I didn’t really notice it to be honest. Besides the fact that my feet didn’t get wet (Maybe I did notice it after all, then?)

One thing I should mention is that I did replace the shoelaces after 90 miles because I pulled too hard on them and they broke.

It was a bit of a bummer at the time but it doesn’t take away the fact that the shoes are high-quality. 🤷🏽‍♂️
