Evander’s Personal GymNext Flex Timer Summary:

To put it simply, the GymNext Flex Timer is a top-notch gym timer that delivers quality and convenience.

The buzzer is loud, the display is clear, and the app is user-friendly and reliable.

While it may be pricey and the gym edition is not worth the extra cash, this timer is worth considering if you want a reliable and efficient workout tool.

Plus, it’s way better than relying on a free mobile app.

The GymNext Flex Timer is more than just a timer. It’s like having a cool, versatile fitness watch designed to make you sweat.

It comes in two editions (the home edition and the gym edition), both of which are almost identical.

Tip

If you want to get into the nitty gritty and check the differences, you may want to read the tech specs section below.

With that being said, here are some of its awesome features:

GymNext Flex timer mounted

Display

The display on the GymNext Flex Timer is like a mini light show

It’s bright, easy to read, and even customizable to show different colors for each programming mode.

As if you were throwing a mini rave party in your (home) gym.

Evander’s opinion

This is also where the biggest difference between the home edition and the gym edition is.

The gym edition has a bigger, slightly brighter LED display.

Interval timer app

The gym timer-controlled Flex Timer app is truly a genie in a bottle.

With the interval training timer app, you can create and save custom workouts and workout routines, and adjust the timer settings, volume, and much more.

Bonus

With an audio sync feature that connects multiple timers at once, the GymNext Flex Timer is perfect for personal trainers who want to boss multiple clients around or gym owners who want to keep all their gymgoers on the same page.

Whether you want to synchronize them to buzz all at once or set them up to buzz at different intervals, the possibilities are endless with the Flex timer app.

Programming modes

Programming Modes

The programming modes on the GymNext Flex Timer are endless (literally). With modes like a count up/down timer, tabata timer, FGB timer, EMOM timer, interval timer, stopwatch, and custom timer, you’ll never get bored.

And with the app, you can build your timer modes. How much do you ask for? Unlimited! How cool is that?

Here is a list of the timer modes that are already good to go:

  • Count up/down timer
  • Tabata timer
  • FGB timer
  • EMOM timer
  • Interval timer
  • Stopwatch
  • Custom timer

Range

The range on the GymNext Flex Timer is very decent for a gym timer.

It has a range of 100 feet according to GymNext, but multiple customers report that it can easily go up to 200 feet without making a fuss.

And let’s be real, whose home gym is that big?

Bluetooth sign

Heart beat sign

Heart Rate Monitor

So how can a gym timer that’s mounted on a wall 10 feet away from you monitor your heart?

Simple, it doesn’t.

It connects to your smartwatch or fitness tracker via the phone app and displays the data on the timer.

The more accurate your smartwatch or fitness tracker, the more accurate the heart rate monitor.

Buzzer

The GymNext Flex Timer has one hack of a loud buzzer (95 decibels to be exact) which can be adjusted in the interval timer app.

It’s loud, clear, and adjustable, so you can set it to a level that’s comfortable for you.

Bonus

If you somehow think the timer isn’t loud enough, you can also use a Bluetooth speaker or Television to replace the buzzer.

What Is Inside The Box?

The tripod stand, in particular, is ideal for doing interval training workouts outside.

Worry-Free Workout: The GymNext Flex Timer Warranty

Purple infographic with an image of a warranty sign. text displays: Worry-Free Workout: The GymNext Flex Timer Warranty

The GymNext Flex Timer comes with a warranty that’s like a bodyguard for your timer—it’s got your back.

The one-year limited warranty covers any defects in materials or workmanship, so you can rest easy knowing you’re covered.

Evander’s opinion

Keep in mind that the warranty won’t cover damages caused by accidents, misuse, or normal wear and tear.

So I recommend being gentle with your Flex timer.

GymNext Flex Timer Alternatives: When You’re Just Not Feeling the Love

Purple infographic with an image of the Slevio gym timer mounted on a metal surface. text displays: GymNext Flex Timer Alternatives

If you’re not feeling the GymNext Flex Timer, don’t worry—there are other fish in the sea. Here are three alternatives to consider:

Rogue home gym timer

#1 Rogue Home Timer

The Rogue Home Timer is like the GymNext Flex Timer’s simpler cousin.

It has a big and bright LED display and offers programming modes such as count up/down, Tabata, and interval timer.

Plus, it’s a bit cheaper than the GymNext Flex Timer, so it’s a great option if you don’t want to spend an arm and a leg on a gym timer.

#2 WERPOWER Seesii LED Interval Timer

The WERPOWER Seesii LED Interval Timer is like the GymNext Flex Timer’s little brother—it’s compact and portable.

You can mount it on a wall or take it with you in your gym bag.

It also offers programming modes like Tabata, EMOM, and interval timing.

And it’s more affordable than the GymNext Flex Timer.

Seesi Gym Timer
Sleevio gym clock

#3 SLEVIO Portable Gym Timer

The SLEVIO Portable Gym Timer is like the GymNext Flex Timer’s versatile cousin. It offers several programming modes, such as count up/down, Tabata, and interval timer.

Evander’s opinion

My favorite feature of the SLEVIO Timer is the powerful magnet on the backside.

No need to act like Bob the Builder; simply stick it to a metal surface and I’m good to go.

Sweating it Out with the GymNext Flex Timer: My Personal Experience

Purple infographic with sad and happy emojis. Text displays: My personal experience

To be honest, I don’t personally own the GymNext Flex Timer, but I’ve used it for group workouts in several gyms, so I’ve got some insights.

Here are my thoughts:

First of all, it’s ridiculous that they charge almost $100 extra just for a slightly bigger size in the gym edition.

I’d rather have two small timers that I can move around to get the best viewing angle than one large timer.

Secondly, the mounting brackets could be better.

I’m no construction worker, but I’ve seen other gym timers with a simple magnet on the back which allows you to stick it to any gym machine and does the job just fine, so I’m not sure why a high-end timer doesn’t have this convenience.

All that being said, the GymNext Flex Timer is still one of the best timers I’ve used.

I’ve never had any connectivity issues or accuracy problems during workouts, and I even tested it outside the gym, and it still worked from over 150 feet away.

The interval timer app is user-friendly, and I can program a new timer in under 10 seconds.

While it is on the pricier side, it gets the job done and is easy to use, so I would definitely recommend it, especially if you are currently looking to replace your smartphone timer apps.

Should You Buy the GymNext Flex Timer?

The GymNext Flex Timer is a personal drill sergeant but instead of yelling you got a loud buzzer.

With a customizable display, heart rate monitor, and remote control, it has some cool features for every workout.

Though it’s pricier and you are still limited to wherever your power outlet is, it’s a valuable investment if you ask me.

If you’re budget-conscious, the Rogue Home Timer, WERPOWER Seesii LED Interval Timer, and SLEVIO Portable Gym Timer are affordable and solid alternatives to consider.

So, should you buy the GymNext Flex Timer? If you want to have a quality gym timer that is a great addition to your home gym and that’s versatile, then absolutely!

With a one-year limited warranty, there’s no better time to grab a GymNext Flex Timer and crush your workouts!
